The Qukulele Christmas Special: Sunday 6th December
It's that time again! We're back with our annual festive feast of mashups and mayhem. Banish those winter blues with some Hawaiian hilarity, seasonal silliness, special guests and songs old and new!
This year we're at the fabulous Rialto Theatre (just up from the clocktower at bottom of Dyke Road). There will be plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful art deco Bacall's bar - we hope you'll stick around for a few drinks after the show.
Our very special guests this year...
Hannah Rose Tristram, chanteuse and accordian player extraordinaire
Al Start, with her own brand of uppy, quirky queer folk
and our compere Ali Hendry-Ballard of all female comedy troupe, Short & Girlie Show.
When: Sunday 6th December Doors: 7.30pm Show: 8pm Late bar
(We regret the theatre is not accessible - stairs to performance area.)
About our guests...
Hannah Rose Tristram has dedicated her life to music, movement, community and connection. She leads community choirs and singing workshops, including the LGBTQ singing group, GLOWchoirBrighton (straight allies welcome). She gives one to one vocal coaching and therapy sessions, and also teaches Kripalu Yoga, Partner Yoga and VocoMotion(TM).
Tonight she will be self-accompanied on accordion, offering a mixture of songs spanning many moods and genres, for your delight.
Al Start - a rare grown-up outing for this fantastic songwriter, with her own brand of uppy, quirky, queer folk. Al is currently busy launching her own production company for cutting edge children's music and events - Go Kid Music. (And did you know – Al was the original founder of Qukulele!)
Funds raised at the concert will be in aid of local Brighton Charity, Lunch Positive, the weekly lunch club for people who are HIV positive.
Mince pies and mulled wine will be served during the interval.
"No World Aids Day event would be the same without a contribution from Qukulele, the all women group of ukulele players whose version of Dream a Little Dream of Me always brings a smile to my face. It did to everyone in the church also." GScene Dec 2014
Venue: St. Mary's Church, St James's Street, Brighton
